With the growing need for pediatricians to consult with child psychologists in New
York, the New York Chapters of the American Academy of Pediatrics received a grant
to pursue the feasibility of consultation through a web-based application. The Web
Based Child Psychiatry Access Project (WEBCPAP) launched in April 2006, has provided
a means for doctors to consult on their patients for proper diagnoses and medical
advice.
WEBCPAP is a HIPAA compliant web application including such security features as
encrypted passwords, CAPTCHA, and secure domain through SSL. Doctors communicate
through online forms and a blog to keep the history of the consultation.
